FICA Tip Credit Report Businesses who employ tipped workers may be eligible for the FICA Tip Tax Credit when they file their tax return. This credit directly reduces the Federal Income Tax by the amount of FICA taxes that the employer paid on the employees tips throughout the year, rather than deducting the amount as payroll expense. HR Fusion will keep up with the payroll data needed to calculate this credit and send you a report at year end. Its that easy. We also have a CPA on staff that can assist in filing the necessary Form 8846 with the IRS to claim the credit. Check out our Article for a better understanding. At the end of the year, some tipped employees can end up owing large amounts to the IRS and the state. We know that nobody wants to be surprised by what they owe. Throughout the year, we keep up with how much each employee has paid in employment taxes, and how much is uncollected because of shortfalls in their pay checks. We can distribute these reports on a quarterly basis, so that the employer and employees are aware of how much tax money the employees still owe. Minimum Wage Shortfall For restaurants covered by Federal Minimum Wage Laws: If a tipped employees hourly wages + tips do not meet the federal minimum wage requirements, the employer is required to make up the difference [when certain requirements are met].
